breathing stops in sleep

Last week I meet an old friend at another friends house. It was a get together, and he was telling his own health problem. At the age of 60, I did not expect a clean health, but what I heart was something new, he sometime stop breathing while asleep. The longest was 3 minutes.

He is snoring aloud, I was wondering how he managed to time his breathing. Then he explained that he went to a specialist, a sleep analyst.

It reminded me of a successful business man who did not make through his snoring cure operation. However his reason may be slightly different. His wife past away, he married a much younger lady. It was likely, he did it to make his wife happier.

Back to the story of my friend, he wanted to buy a machine that will keep the air flowing in when he sleep.

Then I stumble an article in a paper about this situation. It is known as OSA - Onstructive sleep Apnea. It is a potentially life- threatening disease.

In your sleep, your muscles relax except those related to controlling the air flow to the lung. Unfortunately, a person with this disease has his muscles relax too.

You may have the symptoms but do not know about it, here are symptoms...
- loud snoring
- report by partner about you stopping breathing.

Stressful Teens

Teens are the state of their minds and may come as early as 8 or 9 years and may be later, when they are above 20s. My daughter did it very early at 8.

Faced with increased demands in growing up, the teens are more stressful now. The danger is, the majority of them, and even their parents may not be aware of the signals until it is too late.

The teens are persons in transition. The like of us moving to new house, and only worst. They are moving fro being a child, a dependent on their parents to a new stage of being adults. Some will take it with readiness to play the new adult roles, but do no know how to. Some may still wish they were still the small children grasping tightly to their parents. The fear can be, that they are leaving the hand of the families totally and holding to those with questionable character.

Too often, they are not comfortable to ask for help from their parents. The parents too, sometime miss the point to build up the dynamic relationship, and still threat the teens as toddlers. Deep inside they are saying.."Look at me Mum, I had grown up, cant you see "

The Longer they are in transition, the greater their chance that they develop serious problems. It can be serious, like clinical depression, anxiety disorder, drugs and alcohol and even suicidal.

SIGN OF STRESS

a. Arguing - It is normal for them to argue. I prefer this rather than withdraw. Like playing the Malaysian business golf, they may want to win. But do not give in every time... because they may have the wrong impression that they are always right.

Last week, I forgot this, and I proved her wrong, all of of sudden, tears started to form and she withdraw.

It is not normal to teens to be angry all the time. It can last a day of 2, it is a way to let off the steam.

b. Withdrawal from parents is normal, however pulling off from friends are not. If they isolate themselves in the room weekend after weekend is a sign that they are struggling with depression. Socializing with fiend are the first to go under depression.

c. Anxiety is the norm. The prospect of being independent is both exciting and terrifying. Two types of kids are prone to anxiety disorder... 1. the perfectionist and crams his/her schedule and ..2. The worryer.. those who worry over almost everything that he cannot do anything.

Mine had her way escape these, we had a pet cat. She always boosted, it is only the cat ..name.. understand me, it hold my secret. When I cried, he will lick by tears.

Yes, stressful teens is a norm now, unlike the years when we were growing, we had faced different struggle.. i.e how to keep our stomach full. Remember our old friend..the motivational theory maslow.
